New Tanque Verde Ranch Recruits
This time of year is a BIG time for Tanque Verde Ranch. We are eager to see our new renovations take light as our guests get to experience them. However, we are more excited to welcome Valerie, our new Assistant General Manager.
Valerie Friend is Tanque Verde Ranch’s new Assistant General Manager. She will look after the front desk, programs, housekeeping, Kid’s Program, and make sure the guests have an amazing, friendly, comfortable, and clean stay. She will work closely with Terry our GM, making sure everything is running smoothly.
Valerie carries an array of hospitality experience as she has been working in the industry for 27 years. She started as a night auditor and worked her way up. Valerie has taken roles of assistant front office manager, front office manager, rooms division director, and general manager of properties in the past. Valerie had never been to the Ranch before, but when she showed up and stepped out of her car, the Ranch immediately felt peaceful and somewhere she could be.
She stated, “It’s exciting to learn everything that happens at the Ranch, and just to be a part of it.” Valerie is happily married and has been for 20 years. “I have three animals. And by animals, I mean one teenager, one almost-teenager, and… the cat!”
Valerie has a daughter, Caitlyn, who is a freshman in high school, and a son, RJ, who is in sixth grade. Both of her children are active students and require a lot of attention. So in Valerie’s free time, you can find her volunteering, working snow cone booths, driving to games, practices, and competitions. Also, in her spare time, she enjoys the art of photography and 80’s music and movies.
Aside from the busy ‘mom’ life, Valerie has a huge drive for the community and giving back. She was involved in several different charity and volunteering organizations. Valerie has spent eight years from treasurer to Vice President, and then to President of her children’s life on the PTA Board. She also has been and continues to be the Endowment Board Secretary at her Church for the last nine years. Valerie and her family also supports a child from another country that is the same age as her daughter.
Valerie’s goals at the Ranch are to help open communication and increase efficiency. She is also excited to learn from others that know the Ranch. “I am eager to make a difference in a positive way!” Valerie stated. We are so thrilled to have her on our team as the new Assistant General Manager.
